BRIEF HISTORY

Columbia Chemical was founded in 1975 by two talented chemists dedicated to the principles of Simplifying Surface Finishing®. Located in Brunswick, Ohio, we are recognized globally as a leader in the development, manufacturing, and supply of specialty chemistries for the surface finishing industry.

We have continued to build on the legacy of Simplifying Surface Finishing® today by earning a solid reputation for providing a depth of technical expertise and consistent support that makes a difference for our customers.

Columbia Chemical became a 1oo% employee-owned company in 2011. As an ESOP (employee stock ownership plan) company, our employee-owners take pride in the contributions that they each make to our success.

WHAT IS AN ESOP?

An Employee Stock Ownership Plan is an employment benefit that allows a company’s employees to own shares in the business and benefit from these shares’ growth in value over time. ESOPs let employees accumulate company stock throughout their time at the company and trade these shares for their cash value once they leave or retire. Since 2011, Columbia Chemical has been 100% employee owned and we believe it has had a great impact on our company culture as well as employee’s financial security.
