Our company began with the partnership of two talented chemists who recognized that the surface finishing industry was moving toward alkaline cyanide-free zinc plating, and they led the way with their breakthrough COLZINC® ACF-II Process. Focused on developing products that were easy to use, provided superior results and most importantly solved problems for plating shops around the world; the next breakthrough came with the development of our Spectramate 25, a thick film zinc passivate that was cost effective and provided corrosion protection levels which far exceeded the competition and met the needs of the global automotive finishing market.

This problem-solving foundation became a critical part of Columbia Chemical’s product development success through the years and it continues today. The main focus of our Research and Development Department is to grow our product line through the development of high-quality innovative products that are rooted in our core purpose: Simplifying Surface Finishing™.
