Dr. Jacob Weingart Earns Master Surface Finisher Designation

Brunswick, Ohio – Columbia Chemical Material Scientist Dr. Jacob Weingart has earned the designation of Master Surface Finisher (MSF) through the National Association for Surface Finishing (NASF) Education Foundation. In addition to this accomplishment, he was also recently selected to serve on the NASF Education Committee.

The MSF designation is the highest educational offering available through the NASF Education Foundation and recognizes advanced knowledge and expertise across multiple areas of surface finishing. The program builds on the Certified Electroplater Finisher and Aerospace Finisher programs and allows participants to tailor their coursework to their specific area of interest and expertise.

Dr. Weingart focused his coursework on six areas of study with an emphasis on aerospace and aluminum finishing, electroless deposition, corrosion and salt spray testing, precious metals plating, and wastewater treatment. He completed the program following 18 months of continuous study.

“Pursuing the MSF designation gave me the opportunity to expand my knowledge beyond my primary areas of research and gain a deeper understanding of aerospace finishing requirements and applications,” said Weingart. “The knowledge gained through the program has already been valuable in my work developing and advancing surface finishing chemistries at Columbia Chemical.”

The MSF designation further strengthens Columbia Chemical’s technical capabilities as the company continues to develop surface finishing technologies and support customers across a range of industries.

In his new role serving the NASF Education Committee, Weingart will contribute his industry and technical expertise to the development of educational programs offered through the NASF Education Foundation.
